Natashia Bevilacqua Art

A huge part of my creative life and work has been my painting. What was once a hobby became a pursued career in 2021, when I decided to explore abstract floral paintings with the intention to sell. I’ve always loved floral paintings, but knew I wouldn’t be interested in traditional style painting - my work as a graphic designer meant I leant towards clean lines, bold colours and shapes. 12 months later, 8 or 9 paintings completed, I decided to enter the Jumbled Online Art Superstar competition, and low and behold, I was announced as a finalist! It was a surreal moment, which hung around for a good week.

Since that day it’s been a rollercoaster - I quickly built a website and shop (thankfully my Squarespace experience made that easy!), and sold most of my paintings over a weekend. I’ve been busy planning and painting since then, along side client work with Acqua.

I think most designers and artists live with a sort of ‘imposter syndrome’ for a while, until something big changes or time just goes by, and then you become comfortable with that term. For me, as a graphic designer, the imposter syndrome went away a few years ago, when I realised I had become an established designer. The artist side of things, that’s still there a little. The title “artist” is one I’m slowly embracing, even though I’ve been painting on and off for 20 years!
